Keenly Aware of Each Other

Black Forest coat, Alice + Olivia skirt (here), Louis Vuitton boots, Bally vintage belt, Céline sunglasses

I love Christmas time too much to let it go away so soon, but I will continue to enjoy the transitory California cold while it lasts in a combination of fur and leather things. I tried this coat on last year, fell in love with it, and finally got it for my 18th birthday just in time for winter. It's so dense and lush, and the dark, almost ebony color closely resembles that of my hair. Surely, I have also formed a penchant for chandelier or rather tassel earrings adorned with exotic yet delicate jewels. I had to followup with these new havana tortoiseshell sunglasses after persistently wearing out the black pair I got from Rome.

Merry Christmas!

18

Carven dress (here), Christian Louboutin heels (here), garnet & amethyst gold earrings

On being 18, I don't know what to think besides realizing the rapidity of life's progression and tuning in my priorities toward what I want to do in the future. What I do know for sure is that I am now, as a friend put it, "legal." I cannot imagine a more perfect dress to wear on my 18th birthday. Red and velvet make such an ideal combination just like the cake. There is even an unforeseen sliced cutout and a high structured neckline to balance out the curvilinear sleeves and the body's bell-shaped silhouette. Of course, the two secret hand pockets in the front make it like a more functional piece. Everything about this winter Carven creation just exudes romanticism or an exoticism of a distant time, whether of the past or the future.

On Top of the World

Alexander Wang shirt, Alice + Olivia skirt (here), Balenciaga shoes, Céline bag, David Yurman pendant (here), chain (here) & earrings

An autumn day with perfect weather and golden leaves everywhere, an appropriate setting for sporting a burgundy pleated leather skirt belted with vintage Bally. I decided to finally start using this triple zipper bag I bought in Rome that is not quite black but a navy blue. I like that it can go either way to the eye. What is unmistakably blue however, is my favorite DY necklace, which makes a rich combination with burgundy.

Drapery

Helmut Lang dress (here), Roger Vivier bag, Yves Saint Laurent shoes

The pared down drape effect is the best part of this perfectly cloudy grey dress. I like the soft, wispy feeling of it against the skin and how it clings on like a cocoon. Even the length of it and the apportioning of ruche texture between the upper and nether halves is changeable. The way the fabric falls almost reminds me of those marble-draped statues so ridiculously perfect that it makes me think they must be crafted by nonhuman hands from a different part of the universe.

From a Mile Away

Topshop skirt & top, Sandro leather jacket, Chloé boots (here), Céline sunglasses, Hermès bracelet

Spent this afternoon walking aimlessly up a zigzagged trail with Conor while detouring off of it at times to get into closer contact with plants. A scarlet skirt like this could not be any less forest friendly, although it did make it easier for other animals, insects, humans, bikers, life forms to discern me from a mile away, had I wanted that or not. Forget the constricting nature of pants. Floaty skirts are more agreeable.
