On Top of the World

Alexander Wang shirt, Alice + Olivia skirt (here), Balenciaga shoes, Céline bag, David Yurman pendant (here), chain (here) & earrings

An autumn day with perfect weather and golden leaves everywhere, an appropriate setting for sporting a burgundy pleated leather skirt belted with vintage Bally. I decided to finally start using this triple zipper bag I bought in Rome that is not quite black but a navy blue. I like that it can go either way to the eye. What is unmistakably blue however, is my favorite DY necklace, which makes a rich combination with burgundy.

Draped in Marble

Helmut Lang dress (here), Roger Vivier bag, Yves Saint Laurent shoes

The pared down drape effect is the best part of this perfectly cloudy grey dress. I like the soft, wispy feeling of it against the skin and how it clings on like a cocoon. Even the length of it and the apportioning of ruche texture between the upper and nether halves is changeable. The way the fabric falls almost reminds me of those marble-draped statues so ridiculously perfect that it makes me think they must be crafted by nonhuman hands from a different part of the universe.

From a Mile Away

Topshop skirt & top, Sandro leather jacket, Chloé boots (here), Céline sunglasses, Hermès bracelet

Spent this afternoon walking aimlessly up a zigzagged trail with Conor while detouring off of it at times to get into closer contact with plants. A scarlet skirt like this could not be any less forest friendly, although it did make it easier for other animals, insects, humans, bikers, life forms to discern me from a mile away, had I wanted that or not. Forget the constricting nature of pants. Floaty skirts are more agreeable.

Doubled Up Velvet

Armani top, All Saints skirt, Chanel boots & rings & earrings, Hermès belt & bracelet, Balenciaga clutch

Velvet and a "0" pattern on this black t shirt make it more than just a black t shirt, a perfect pairing with a correspondingly velveted hat. It's one of those fabrics that are too often associated with royal garbs; so much so that I think it is best to keep things simple when dealing with such a potentially ornate texture. The random jewelry and silvery accessories I spontaneously decided to throw on last minute merges 19th century with 21st century things, something I like to do lately.
